Punjab E News (PEN News): Union Minister and BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu has strongly condemned the reported attack on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal in Nanded Sahib, Maharashtra.
Reacting to the incident, Bittu described the attack attempt as a “cowardly act” and said that such violence poses a direct threat to peace and security in Punjab.
Ravneet Bittu Demands Strict Action Against Attackers
Ravneet Singh Bittu said there is no place for violence, intimidation or fear at sacred religious places. He demanded that those responsible for the attack be identified and brought to justice at the earliest.
Bittu also called for accountability for any security lapse that may have contributed to the incident. He stressed that protecting people at religious institutions should remain a priority.
“Sikhism Stands for Peace, Courage and Service”
Referring to the core principles of Sikhism, Bittu said that Sikhism represents service, courage and peace, not violence.
He said attempts to disturb peace and communal harmony should not be tolerated and urged authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible for the incident.
Sukhbir Badal Injured in Nanded Attack
Sukhbir Singh Badal was reportedly attacked near Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur in Nanded after arriving in the city. Following the incident, he was taken to a private hospital for medical treatment.
His wife and MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal and other family members were reportedly present at the time of the incident.
A police personnel deployed for Sukhbir Badal’s security was seriously injured while intervening during the attack.
Initial reports suggest that Sukhbir Singh Badal is out of danger, although detailed information about his medical condition has not yet been released by the hospital.
