Drug allegation video linked to youth’s death; police book six, including YouTuber

Lambi: Police have registered a case against six people, including a YouTuber, in connection with the death of 25-year-old Sukhjinder Singh alias Chhinda in Khudian Gulab Singh village. The case was registered under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following allegations that a video accusing the deceased of selling drugs had been circulated on social media.

The case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s father, Sarbjit Singh. Those named in the FIR include Sukhjinder Singh, son of Jagga Singh; Davinder Singh; Sukhjinder Singh alias Kali; Kala Singh; Gurpiar Singh, all residents of Khudian Gulab Singh; and YouTuber Maninder Sidhu.

According to the complaint, Sukhjinder allegedly died by suicide on August 18 after a video was circulated in which he was accused of selling drugs. His father alleged that the accusations were false and that the video had been circulated without taking the family’s version.

Family alleges social humiliation

Sarbjit Singh alleged that Sukhjinder Singh, son of Jagga Singh, had called YouTuber Maninder Sidhu to the village. During the recording, the other named individuals allegedly accused his son of selling drugs in front of the camera.

The family claims that the video subsequently went viral on social media, leaving Sukhjinder distressed over the alleged social humiliation.

According to the complaint, Sukhjinder was found hanging inside a room at his home on August 18. His cremation was carried out the same evening without a post-mortem. The family later decided to pursue legal action after discussions with village leaders.

Police investigation underway

Lambi police have begun investigating the allegations. No arrest has been reported so far.

Local Akali leader Jagmeet Chahal claimed that around 20 to 25 young people from economically weaker families in Khudian village had died of drug overdoses over the past five to six years. These figures are allegations made by him and have not been independently established in the information provided.

Police officials contacted for their response were reportedly unavailable, while attempts to contact YouTuber Maninder Sidhu for his version also did not receive a response.
