Amritsar: The Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has denied reports that an employee named Satbir Singh was summoned by Punjab Police for questioning in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving Amarjit Singh Chawla.
A Secretariat official said no person named Satbir Singh was employed at the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat during the period in question and that there had never been an employee by that name there.
The official criticised reports carried by some Punjabi media outlets claiming that “Satbir Singh, an employee of the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat”, had been called by Punjab Police in connection with the case involving Chawla and the woman from Bahrain.
The Secretariat alleged that the reports had been published without verification and urged media organisations to exercise caution before reporting such claims.
The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has also warned that legal action could be initiated against media outlets that continue to circulate what the Secretariat described as false reports.
The Secretariat reiterated that it has no employee matching the identity mentioned in the reports and rejected any association between such a person and its establishment.
