Punjab CM’s OSD Rajbir Singh Ghuman appears before CBI in alleged corruption case

New Delhi: Rajbir Singh Ghuman, officer on special duty (OSD) to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday to join questioning in a corruption case, in compliance with directions from the Supreme Court.

Ghuman arrived at the agency’s office at around 2.30 pm along with his lawyers after receiving a notice through WhatsApp from the CBI on Wednesday.

His legal team said he had appeared in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions. The lawyers added that other individuals who receive notices in connection with the case would also comply with the court’s orders.

The CBI had previously issued two summons to Ghuman, but he did not appear on those occasions.

The Supreme Court has restrained the CBI from taking coercive action against Ghuman in the corruption case. However, the court declined to stay the investigation or quash the FIR registered in the matter.

The investigation is continuing, and the allegations remain subject to the legal process.
