Mansa: Neelam Rani, wife of the main accused in the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhotta, was produced before a court through video conferencing on Friday and remanded to police custody until October 22.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajinder Nagpal passed the order, according to the information provided.
Meanwhile, a banner carrying a message in memory of Jhotta has been put up at the site of Ashwini Kumar’s demolished medical store. The banner reads: “Do not mourn my death; keep my ideology alive.”
The message is being seen as a call to continue Jhotta’s campaign against drug abuse and raise awareness about the issue. The banner has drawn attention in the area following the demolition of the shop and the activist’s killing.
Jhotta was allegedly shot dead by medical store owner Ashwini Kumar in Mansa on Tuesday. The incident sparked widespread anger across Punjab, with a statewide bandh observed on Thursday to demand justice.
The case continues to draw attention to the fight against drug abuse and demands for accountability in Jhotta’s killing.
