Sultanpur: Several vehicles in Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s convoy collided on the Purvanchal Expressway on Monday while he was travelling to Sultanpur to attend a court hearing in a defamation case filed against him, a police officer said.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, was safe after the incident. The police officer said the collision was not serious and no major injuries had been reported.
The accident occurred at around 10.15 am when a private vehicle carrying local Congress leaders, travelling ahead of the convoy, suddenly applied the brakes. This caused vehicles following behind to collide with one another, the officer said.
