New Delhi: Karwa Chauth is being celebrated across India on Thursday, October 29, with married women observing a fast and praying for the long lives and well-being of their husbands.
According to published Hindu calendars, the auspicious time for Karwa Chauth puja is from 5.38 pm to 6.56 pm. The Chaturthi tithi began at around 1.06 am on Thursday and is expected to end at approximately 10.09 pm.
The expected moonrise time varies across cities depending on geographical location and local conditions. Women observing the fast are advised to follow the moonrise timings applicable to their respective cities before performing the evening rituals and offering arghya to the Moon.
Health experts also advise those observing a nirjala fast, which involves abstaining from both food and water, to take precautions. People with existing medical conditions or those taking regular medication should consult a doctor before fasting to reduce the risk of health complications.
