Moga: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday morning raided the residences of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and Punjab women’s wing president Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora in Moga, with searches also underway at other locations linked to her.
ED teams from Delhi and Chandigarh arrived at around 6 am at the legislator’s two residences. Raids were also reported in neighbouring Bagha Purana and at Chand Majra village near Patiala, her parental village.
The raids come months ahead of the 2027 Punjab assembly elections. The AAP has already announced Arora as its candidate from the Moga constituency for the upcoming polls.
Arora was reportedly present at her residence during the searches, and investigating officials were questioning her.
After news of the raids spread, a large number of AAP workers and supporters gathered outside and raised slogans against the central agency and the BJP. Security personnel subsequently cordoned off the area.
The searches were underway at both residences at the time of filing this report.
The ED has not yet disclosed the case in connection with which the raids were conducted. Arora’s family has also not issued any formal statement.
