Washington: A 31-year-old conservative activist, known for his closeness to former US President Donald Trump, was shot dead during a college event on Wednesday. The state’s governor described the killing as a “political murder.”
Authorities said no charges have yet been filed in the case. “It’s a dark day for our state,” the governor said, while adding that investigations were ongoing.
According to US officials, the attacker was also killed during the incident, though confusion remains about how events unfolded.
Trump reacted to the news on his social media platform, expressing sorrow over the loss. “The United States of America has lost a young man with a great heart,” Trump wrote.
The victim was reported to be a co-founder and CEO of a conservative organization.
