New Delhi: Delhi Capitals kept their IPL playoff hopes alive with a thrilling three-wicket victory over Punjab Kings on Monday.
Captain Axar Patel and David Miller played crucial knocks to guide Delhi to a memorable win in a high-scoring contest.
Punjab Kings post 210 runs
Batting first, Punjab Kings got off to a strong start through openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, who added 78 runs for the opening wicket.
Priyansh Arya scored 56 runs, while Prabhsimran contributed 18.
Later, captain Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 59, and Cooper Connolly chipped in with 38 runs to help Punjab post 210 runs in 20 overs.
Axar and Miller rescue Delhi after poor start
Chasing 211, Delhi Capitals suffered an early collapse and were reduced to 74/4 at one stage.
However, Axar Patel scored 56 runs while David Miller smashed 51 to stabilise the innings and take the team close to victory.
In the final stages, Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari completed the chase as Delhi reached 216 runs in just 19 overs.
Starc and Madhav shine with ball
For Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc and Madhav Tiwari picked up two wickets each.
For Punjab Kings, Arshdeep Singh was the most successful bowler with two wickets.
