New Delhi: Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh has distanced himself from the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, saying he prefers not to comment on political issues and movements.
During a recent Instagram Live session, a fan asked Diljit for his views on the CJP protest. Responding to the question, the singer said he was not familiar with the movement and made it clear that he did not wish to be associated with political protests.
“Brother, keep me away from protests. I am an artist, not a politician. Everything in life cannot be perfect, and everything in this world cannot be right,” Diljit said.
He also quoted a verse from Guru Granth Sahib, saying: “Nanak dukhia sabh sansar, so sukhia jis naam adhar,” emphasising the spiritual message behind his response.
The CJP has been staging a protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated examination paper leaks and alleged irregularities in recruitment and examination processes. The agitation has drawn students and supporters from several states seeking greater transparency and accountability in the education system.
The protest has gained further attention after environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the movement, with his hunger strike entering its fifth day.
Diljit’s remarks come amid growing public attention on the protest, but the singer reiterated that he does not wish to involve himself in political matters.
On the professional front, Diljit was recently seen in Imtiaz Ali’s film Main Wapas Aaunga, a Partition-era drama featuring Naseeruddin Shah, Sharvari, and Vedang Raina. He is currently touring internationally as part of his Aura Tour 2026.
