15-year-old rape victim dies by suicide in Ropar
In a village within the Noorpurbedi block of Ropar, police reported the rape of an orphaned Dalit minor girl by two youths. Following this distressing incident, the girl tragically took her own life.
The accused individuals, identified as Harsh Rana and Dinesh Gurjar, have not yet been apprehended, although a case, encompassing charges including rape, has been filed against them.
The 15-year-old girl resided with her 14-year-old brother and their grandmother. Her brother worked as a cattle caretaker at the village sarpanch’s house.
He informed the police that while returning home with his sister after visiting the gurdwara on Saturday, Harsh Rana and Dinesh Gurjar assaulted him, forcibly took his sister towards nearby bushes, and he, frightened, rushed to seek help at his employer’s house.
