Debt-ridden man commits suicide along with four family members

In village Droli Khurd, five members of a family tragically took their own lives due to debt. The deceased individuals are identified as Manmohan Singh (55), his wife Sarabjit Kaur, his daughters Jyoti (32) and Gopi (31), and Jyoti’s daughter Aman (3).
According to Sarabjit Singh, Manmohan Singh’s son-in-law from Phuglana, he had been trying to contact his wife Jyoti for some time, but received no response. Concerned, he traveled to village Droli Khurd. Upon arrival, he found the main door locked from inside and, despite repeated knocking, no one answered. With the help of neighbors, he entered the house by scaling the wall.
Inside, he discovered Manmohan Singh and Sarabjit Kaur hanging from the ceiling fan in the front room. Jyoti, Gopi, and Aman were found deceased on the bed. Manmohan Singh was identified as in-charge of the Adampur post office. Sarabjit immediately informed the police, prompting the arrival of SHO Manjit Singh and DSP Adampur Vijay Kunwar Singh.
An investigation has been initiated by the police, who also recovered a suicide note, reportedly written by Manmohan Singh. In the note, he expressed taking loans due to financial constraints, which led to family disputes and ultimately this tragic decision. The bodies have been transferred to Jalandhar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
