Case registered against Sparx Overseas for immigration fraud of Rs 22.8 lakh with 12 people
Chandigarh News: In the recent immigration fraud case in Chandigarh, at least 12 job seekers were deceived of Rs 22.80 lakh. The victims, who came from Chandigarh and various cities in Punjab, were lured with promises of work permit visas mainly for Dubai and Singapore, police said.
This fraudulent activity occurred during August and September 2021. The police have filed charges against Sparx Overseas, an immigration firm located in Sector 34, for cheating and also under Section 24 of the Immigration Act.
Five individuals, who intended to go to Singapore, each paid Rs 1.20 lakh, while seven victims paid Rs 45,000 each for Dubai visas. Furthermore, they were all charged Rs 3,500 each for their medical examinations. In addition to these expenses, the victims also paid additional sums of money for obtaining their foreign visas, resulting in a total loss of Rs 22.8 lakh.
