Drug case against Majithia: Three accused yet to be arrested, Government told Court 

Punjab News: A year after a case was registered against former MLA Bikram Singh Majithia under the NDPS Act, the Punjab government told the Punjab and Haryana High Court that three accused in the case were yet to be arrested.
    In an affidavit filed by the AIG of police, the court was also told that the role of all police officers directly or indirectly involved in drug smuggling would also be probed and the probe would be completed within a month. 
    “All the three reports of the SIT will be taken into account during this investigation process,” he said.
At the outset, the bench was told that the extradition proceedings of the 12 accused named in the six FIRs mentioned in a report submitted by the head of the special task force have been initiated.
     In an affidavit filed before a bench of Justices G S Sandhawalia and Harpreet Kaur Jeevan, Punjab Additional Advocate General Gaurav Garg Dhuriwala said a case was registered against Bikram Singh Majithia on December 20, 2021, at the Mohali police station on the basis of the facts mentioned in the report.
    Three other persons — Satpreet Singh alias Satta, Parminder Singh alias Pindi and Amrinder Singh Chhina alias Laadi Chhina — were named as accused in the case. 
    Bikram Singh Majithia, who was arrested on February 24, 2022, was granted bail by the High Court on August 10, 2022, while the remaining three accused are yet to be arrested, he said. 
   They are all currently living in Canada.  
    He said that the process of extradition of Amarjit Singh Kunar, Lahimbar Singh, Pardeep Singh Dhaliwal, Ladi Chhina, Pindi, Sarabjit Singh Sander, Nirankar Singh Dhillon, Gursewak Singh Dhillon, Ranjit Singh Aujla, Ranjit Kaur Kahlon, Madan Lal and Harbans Singh Sidhu is underway. The court posted the matter for further hearing on May 31.
