Kidnapping case filed against former Congress MLA in Punjab, read details

Chandigarh: A case has been registered against former Congress MLA Nirmal Singh Shutrana, his wife, and 13 others on charges of kidnapping, snatching, making obscene videos, and other serious offenses at Khamanon police station in Fatehgarh Sahib.

The police took this action based on the complaint filed by the wife of the former MLA’s nephew. An FIR has been registered at Khamanon police station. The former MLA is also accused of threatening him with a revolver.

The complainant said in her complaint that she married Balkar Singh, a resident of Ajnauda Khurd (Bhadso), in 2005. Balkar Singh works in the health department and is posted in Nabha. After their marriage, they had two daughters and a son. In 2020, due to constant quarrels with her husband, she began living separately from him.

She lives at her maternal home with her three children and works in a boutique. She filed a case against her husband Balkar Singh in the Khamanon court for expenses, and the court allocated Rs 7,000 for her and the children. In this case, Balkar Singh was made an ex-parte. Concurrently, the complainant filed an appeal in the High Court to increase the amount of expenses, and the hearing for this appeal has commenced.

According to the complainant, she and her daughter were taking a walk in Dussehra Ground Khamanon when a white Creta car arrived around 6 pm on March 12th. Her husband Balkar Singh emerged from this car, forcibly took her by the arm, and led her to the back seat of the car. They drove towards Morinda.

During the journey, he mixed something in water and forced her to drink it, causing her to lose consciousness. When she regained consciousness, they were near Samana. Balkar Singh then took her to the house of his maternal uncle, Nirmal Singh Shutrana, a former MLA from the Congress party. They entered the house through the back gate, took her upstairs to a room, and laid her on the bed.

The complainant stated in her statements that when she regained consciousness, she saw that Nirmal Singh Shutrana, his wife Hamir Kaur, Harvinder Kaur, Lakhwinder Singh Lakhi, Lovepreet Singh, Balwinder Kaur Binder and Gogi had entered the room. They started assaulting her and forced her to withdraw the case filed against Balkar Singh in the High Court.
