MC Ludhiana Supervisor Arrested For Taking Rs 6k Bribe From Safai Sevak

Ludhiana News: Amidst ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Wednesday nabbed Supervisor Darshan Lal posted at Zone- D Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana while accepting bribe of Rs 6000 for releasing salary of a Safai Sevak.

       Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB said that complainant Arun Kumar, who has been working as Safai Sevak at Municipal Corporation Ludhiana on temporary basis since 2014 and got regularised in November 2022, lodged complaint with the VB Ludhiana Range office alleging that Supervisor Darshan Lal is taking Rs 1000 per month from all Safai Sevaks by threatening them to mark their absent.

       The complainant further stated that after regularisation he received a pay of six months and the accused Supervisor was demanding Rs 6000 (Rs 1000 per month) from him for releasing the salary, otherwise, he will harass him in future by marking his absent.

       The spokesperson said that as per his statement FIR 21 Dated 06.09.2023 was registered under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station VB Range Ludhiana.

       He said that the Police teams from Vigilance Bureau Ludhiana laid a trap and arrested Supervisor Darshan Lal red handed while taking bribe of Rs 6000 from the complainant in the presence of officers witnesses from Hebowal area. Further investigation is being carried out and accused person will be produced in court tomorrow, he added.
