NIT professor sacked in Punjab over sexual harassment allegations

Jalandhar: A professor of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Jalandhar in Punjab has been terminated. The professor was accused of sexual harassment by 2 MBA students.

The students alleged that the professor attempted to physical harass her by luring to pass her in the examination. After which the institute’s inquiry committee took this action.

One of the students had even said that the professor tried to rape her on Friday afternoon. When she protested, the professor said he would pass her in the paper. She kept protesting and immediately gathered her fellow students.

The matter was immediately reported to the institute. After which when the matter reached the women’s cell, the report of the action was sent to the Central Government. Action has now been taken on this. However, earlier the management had denied this matter and students created a ruckus in the campus on Friday night.
