Punjab police DSP among four arrested in two-year-old bribery case
Chandigarh: The CBI has arrested Punjab Police DSP Amroz Singh, his reader Mandeep and two others Manish Gautam and Pradeep in connection with a Rs 50 lakh bribery case. All the four accused were produced before the court, which remanded the DSP and reader to two-day CBI custody and Manish and Pradeep to jail.
In 2021, Mohit Sharma, a resident of Ambala and owner of the IT company, had complained to the then DSP of Zirakpur Amroz Singh that Anil Mor, a resident of Jind, and Dilbagh Singh, a resident of Kaithal, were blackmailing him and demanding shares and money in the company, but his complaint was not considered. While Mohit neither gave money to Anil and Dilbag nor shares in the company.
Meanwhile, a person named Pradeep complained that he has shares worth Rs 15 lakh in Mohit’s company but he is not returning them. Anil and Dilbag came to know about this complaint. They colluded with the police and froze the bank accounts of Mohit’s company on the basis of Pradeep’s complaint.
At the same time, on the said complaint, DSP Amroz Singh’s reader Mandeep called Mohit and told him that a complaint has been received against him. The DSP has called him in this regard. On the same day, Anil and Dilbag called Mohit and told him that if he wanted to get rid of all these cases, he would have to pay Rs 50 lakh.
