Punjabis set a new record in passport issuance, 11,94,000 passports issued in 2023

Chandigarh: Punjabis have set a new record in passport issuance, with Punjab receiving 11,94,000 new passports in a single year in 2023. This equates to an impressive average of five to seven passports per minute and approximately 408 passports per hour.

Notably, the highest number of passports, reaching 10.60 lakh, was issued in 2018. The latest data from the Union Ministry of External Affairs indicates that Punjabis lead the nation in passport production in term of percentage of population.
