44 dead, 22 injured in fire at 7-storey building in Bangladesh’s Dhaka

Dhaka: At least 44 people were killed and 22 others injured in a fire that broke out in a seven-storey building in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Thursday night, officials said. Bangladesh Health Minister Dr Samantlal Sen said today that the fire broke out in the ‘Green Cozy Cottage’ building in Dhaka’s Bailey Road area.

The fire broke out at around 9.50 pm on Thursday at the popular restaurant ‘Kachi Bhai’ located on the first floor of the building, which quickly spread to the upper floors, fire service officials said. There were restaurants and clothing shops on these floors.
