Hate Crime: Sikh youth shot dead outside gurdwara in US

Washington: Ragi Singh, a 29-year-old Sikh, in a suspected hate crime, was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Selma, Alabama, on Saturday. Raj Singh, also known as Goldy, was a resident of Tanda Sahuwala village in Bijnor district of UP.

He was in the US with his kirtani jatha for over a year. Goldy was shot at by unidentified persons while he was standing outside the gurdwara.

His family was informed about the accident on Sunday.

Police said, “We were informed about the incident by relatives. It has been five days and his postmortem is yet to be conducted. We have contacted the gurdwara committee for more information and they are helping us. We have also appealed to our government for justice and arrest of the killers.”
