India summons Canadian envoy over Khalistani extremists threatening Indian diplomats

New Delhi: India has summoned the Canadian High Commissioner in New Delhi and sent a notice to the Justin Trudeau government over propaganda material, including posters threatening Indian diplomats in Canada. According to sources, India on Monday expressed concern over threats to its diplomats in pro-Khalistani posters circulating on social media in Canada along with information about the pro-Khalistan rally scheduled to be held on July 8.
The posters purportedly carried the names of Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Kumar Verma and Consul General of India, Toronto Apoorva Srivastava and accused them of playing a role in the killing of Khalistan Tiger Force chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June.
The rally is being organised in the name of Harjit Singh Nijjar alias Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed in a shootout in Surrey, Canada on June 18. Meanwhile, Canada has assured India of the safety of its passengers.
