Signaling department mainly responsible for Balasore train accident: Railway inquiry 

New Delhi: After the train accident in Odisha’s Balasore, the responsibility of investigating it was entrusted to the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) and the CRS investigation revealed that the cause of the accident was flaws at various levels. The signal department has been mainly blamed for the accident.
    The station master has also been blamed for the accident as he failed to detect a glitch in the signal control system.
   The CRS investigation report has indicated that the mislabeling of wires inside the level-crossing location box had not been detected for years and there were lapses during maintenance as well, the accident could have been averted had these flaws not been ignored. On June 2, 293 people were killed and over 1,000 injured in a train accident in Balasore.
