Prakash Singh Badal’s cousin Bhupinder Singh Dhillon to join BJP

Chandigarh: Major (Retd) Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, cousin of former Punjab chief minister late Parkash Singh Badal, is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday evening, giving a fresh twist to political speculation that began earlier this year.

Popularly known as ‘Major Bhoop’, Dhillon served as Parkash Singh Badal’s political secretary during the Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP government and was considered a prominent figure associated with the former chief minister’s family.

Dhillon is the son of late former MP Gurrj Raj Singh Badal, who was the younger brother of Parkash Singh Badal’s father, Raghuraj Singh. His ancestral home in Badal village is located next to the former residence of Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
