Jalandhar: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has appointed Jalandhar-based politician Deepak Bali as halqa in-charge of the Jalandhar Cantonment Assembly constituency, currently represented by Congress MLA and Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Pargat Singh.
The appointment assumes political significance ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, as it could signal AAP’s preparations to strengthen its position in the constituency.
Bali’s appointment comes as political parties begin positioning their leaders and organisational teams ahead of the state polls.
While the move has fuelled speculation that Bali could be considered as AAP’s candidate against Pargat Singh, the party has not announced its candidate for the constituency.
