BJP alleges CM Mann brought luxury goods without customs declaration, AAP hits back

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday alleged that Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann was found carrying expensive shoes, jewellery, designer suits and perfumes that had not been declared to customs when he returned from Paris and was reportedly stopped at Delhi airport.

The BJP accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of playing a false “victim card” over the incident.

On Sunday, AAP had alleged that Mann was detained at Delhi airport for around three hours and fined ₹50,000. The party claimed officials had cited “heavy pressure from above” behind the action but did not specify why the chief minister was stopped or fined.

Responding to AAP’s allegations, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that Mann had travelled to Paris for a holiday and brought back luxury items without informing customs authorities.

Bhandari alleged that the items included shoes worth ₹2.5 lakh, suits worth several lakh rupees for Mann’s wife and expensive perfumes. The claims were made by the BJP; independent confirmation of the alleged customs violations was not provided in the account.

Meanwhile, AAP has refuted the allegations and blamed the Centre led BJP government for playing dirty politics.
