New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has said that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan marks only the first step in its campaign and that the students’ protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until its remaining demands are fulfilled.
Addressing protesters after Pradhan’s resignation, CJP founder Abhijeet Deepake urged students to remain united and continue the agitation.
“There is no need to be afraid. This is a democracy. Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned, but our two major demands are still pending and we will not return until they are met,” Deepake said.
The CJP reiterated its demand for ₹1 crore compensation for the families of students who allegedly died by suicide due to flaws in the examination system and the mental stress linked to the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
The organisation also demanded immediate and stringent action against the police personnel allegedly involved in the July 20 lathi charge on students protesting at Jantar Mantar.
Warning the government against underestimating the strength of the student movement, Deepake said the agitation would continue with full force until all of the organisation’s demands were addressed.
