Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is preparing to take his government’s second phase of ‘Lok Milni’ programmes to villages and constituencies associated with prominent opposition leaders, as political activity intensifies ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
According to the report, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is planning a more aggressive political strategy, including organising public interaction programmes in the home turf of major opposition leaders.
Majitha programme on August 26
Mann is scheduled to hold a Lok Milni programme in Majitha on August 26, the family constituency of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
This will be followed by a programme in Kartarpur on August 27. A third programme is being planned for Mohali or Kharar on August 28, according to sources cited in the report.
The party is also considering holding a Lok Milni programme in Ghuda village, the ancestral village of the Badal family in Bathinda Rural constituency.
AAP recently appointed Gopal Singh, a former PCS officer, as its constituency in-charge for Bathinda Rural, according to the report.
The planned programmes come as political activity in Punjab gathers pace with the Assembly elections drawing closer.
