Goindwal Sahib: A state-level event organised at Goindwal Sahib to honour women under the ‘Mavan Dhiyaan Satikar Yojana’ and recognise the Sakhis implementing the scheme had to be cancelled after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann could not attend.
The event had been scheduled to honour women and the Sakhis associated with implementing the scheme. A large gathering had assembled at the venue, but shortly before the programme, attendees were informed that the Chief Minister would not be arriving.
The cancellation was attributed to an unexpected technical problem with the Chief Minister’s helicopter.
People leave venue after CM’s visit is cancelled
The cancellation reportedly upset people who had been waiting for the Chief Minister in the intense heat. As news of Mann’s absence spread, several women and other attendees began leaving the venue, and the gathering quickly thinned out.
Punjab ministers and MLAs were already present at the programme and were addressing the gathering about the government’s achievements. MLA from Khadoor Sahib Manjinder Singh Lalpura also felicitated the ministers and legislators present at the event.
Later, Bhagwant Mann addressed the gathering through a live broadcast and apologised for not being able to attend, explaining that a sudden technical fault had developed in his helicopter.
