ED summons Ludhiana police commissioner in alleged fake forensic report case linked to Punjab CM video

Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Ludhiana Police Commissioner Swapn Sharma and others to appear at its Chandigarh office on October 19, 2026, in connection with an alleged financial conspiracy involving purportedly fabricated forensic and cyber reports related to a video linked to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann.

According to information available, the agency is examining suspected financial transactions and the alleged conspiracy behind the preparation of reports claiming that the video was artificially generated using artificial intelligence.

The controversy emerged after Gurugram Police registered a case and alleged that fake forensic reports had been prepared in exchange for a substantial sum of money to portray the chief minister’s purported video as fabricated.

Gurugram Police have already arrested two accused, Arun Mahendru and Ankit, in the case. They are accused of allegedly preparing fabricated cyber-investigation reports without obtaining verification from an authorised laboratory.

The ED is investigating the suspected money trail and the circumstances surrounding the preparation of the reports. The allegations remain subject to investigation, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
