Riyadh: An Indian national was killed and two others injured in an attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday night, the Indian embassy in Riyadh said.
In a social media post, the embassy said Saudi authorities had informed it about the casualties. The mission is gathering further details and remains in contact with the affected families.
Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said Indian and Saudi nationals were killed in the attack, while eight others were injured. The injured included two Indians, one Saudi national, two Yemenis, two Bangladeshis and one Nepali citizen. They were admitted to different hospitals.
Authorities have not clarified whether a drone or a missile was used in the airport attack. Airport operations have since resumed, with air traffic returning to normal, officials said.
The incident came a day after an Indian national was injured in a drone attack targeting the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia. Yemen’s Houthi rebels have been targeting key infrastructure in the region, according to reports.
