Chandigarh: A 17-year-old boy was killed and another minor critically injured after three juveniles allegedly riding a motorcycle opened fire at a group of minors in Sector 22 late Thursday night. An autorickshaw driver was also injured in the incident.
The deceased was identified as Naitik, a resident of Sector 22. Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur said all those involved, including the victims and the alleged shooters, were school students. Three suspects were detained within an hour of the shooting, she said.
According to police, the two groups had previously studied at the same school, but the victims had recently enrolled at a school in Sector 32.
The groups allegedly clashed in Sector 34 around 10.15 pm. Some of those involved reportedly recorded videos of the assaulted boys and uploaded them to Instagram to humiliate them. The shooting reportedly followed the altercation.
