Jalandhar lab operator arrested over alleged fake US visa experience certificate

New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested the operator of a private laboratory in Jalandhar in connection with the alleged submission of a forged work experience certificate in a US visa application.

According to police, a case was registered at Chanakyapuri police station on March 24, 2026, following a complaint by an official of the US Embassy. The complaint alleged that a 22-year-old woman from Punjab had submitted an experience certificate with her US visa application claiming that she had worked as a technician at a laboratory. Police alleged that the certificate was fake.

New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma said that during the investigation, the woman told police that the certificate had been provided to her by Sarban Singh, operator of a private laboratory in Punjab. She allegedly paid him ₹8,000 for the certificate.

Based on the investigation, police arrested Singh from the Lohian Khas area of Jalandhar district. He is the operator of the laboratory concerned.

Police also said that a CPU allegedly used to prepare the fake experience certificate was recovered from the laboratory.

Further investigation is underway to determine the possible involvement of other people, examine the alleged conspiracy and collect additional evidence in the case.
