Jalandhar: New claims have emerged in the investigation into the murder of Jalandhar lecturer Neha, with her husband, Vikas Sharma, making several allegations about his wife Satpal Kaur’s alleged relationship with Umang Bassi.
According to Vikas, his wife and Umang had allegedly become very close. He claimed that photographs and other items recovered from his wife’s room pointed to an ongoing relationship between the two.
Vikas alleged that when he unexpectedly returned home from Hyderabad on February 3, 2026, he became suspicious after noticing changes in his wife’s behaviour. He said a subsequent examination of her phone allegedly revealed a 206-page chat, which he claims contained details about their relationship as well as alleged plans concerning their future.
Husband claims evidence was recovered from room
Vikas claimed that a pregnancy test kit, two packets of condoms, cotton and other personal items were recovered from the room. He alleged that the pregnancy test had been used and produced a negative result.
He also claimed that photographs of Satpal and Umang and several outfits were found in the room. These claims have been made by Vikas and should be treated as allegations unless independently established by investigators.
Alleged plans involving their children
Vikas further alleged that the 206-page chat contained discussions about separating his daughter from him and plans for Satpal and Umang to live together after marriage.
According to his claim, the conversations also included discussions about how their respective daughters could be brought together and introduced to their relationship.
Vikas said he had married Satpal around 11 years ago after they left their families against their wishes. He claimed their families had initially opposed the relationship because they came from different religious backgrounds.
Property allegations
Vikas also alleged that Satpal owns significant property in Jalandhar and Kartarpur and that her family owns several shops near Danamandi. He claimed that an Aam Aadmi Party office operates from one of these shops, although he said he did not know whether the party rented the premises or used them through another arrangement.
The allegations made by Vikas are part of his account of the case, and their authenticity and relevance to the murder investigation would need to be established through the police investigation and evidence presented before the court.
