Mansa: Mansa DSP Harjinder Gill and drug inspector Naresh Kumar have been suspended in connection with the Parvinder Singh Jhotta case, the administration informed the Jhotta Action Committee on Wednesday.
The development came after a meeting between Jhotta’s family and Punjab government officials at the District Parishad complex in Mansa on Wednesday evening. The meeting was attended by IAS officers Apneet Riyat and Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar, Mansa deputy commissioner Navjot Kaur and Bathinda range DIG Harjit Singh.
Jhotta’s father, Bhim Singh, alleged that his son had spoken to the DSP before visiting a chemist’s shop on October 13 with an elderly man who had allegedly purchased intoxicating medicines from the shop.
Bhim Singh also claimed that the DSP was mentioned in a Facebook Live video recorded by Jhotta at the time of the incident.
Jhotta was shot dead on October 13 following a confrontation at a medical store in Mansa. His killing triggered protests across Punjab, with his family and supporters demanding an impartial investigation and accountability.
