Ludhiana: A 13-14-year-old girl was allegedly pushed into drug use and repeatedly sexually assaulted in Ludhiana, following which her mother approached the police in Pune and a zero FIR under rape and the POCSO Act was registered against an unidentified accused.
According to the girl’s mother, the teenager was initially introduced to smoking by friends and was gradually pushed towards drug use. She alleged that the girl was taken near the Abys hotel in Rishi Nagar market, where she was made to consume drugs.
The mother further alleged that the accused would take the girl to isolated places after she was under the influence of drugs and sexually assault her. She said the girl initially did not fully understand what was happening because of her condition.
Mother alleges Ludhiana police did not register FIR
The mother said her daughter eventually returned home and disclosed the alleged abuse. According to her, the incidents had been continuing for around three months.
She alleged that she approached PAU police station in Ludhiana, but an FIR was not registered at the time. Instead, she claimed, she was advised to take her daughter somewhere else.
The woman subsequently moved to Pune with her daughter and approached Pune Police. A zero FIR was registered there under rape and the POCSO Act and later forwarded to Ludhiana Police for investigation.
PAU police have now begun investigating the case against the unidentified accused. Investigators are also trying to contact the victim’s mother to establish the identity of the accused and proceed with the investigation.
The investigating officer said that the police have received the zero FIR and have started looking into the allegations.
