Ludhiana: A mother and daughter were stopped by a group of Nihangs while filming a dance video at Rakh Bagh park in Ludhiana on Monday, after the group objected to the activity and the daughter’s attire.
According to videos circulating on social media, the Nihangs told the pair that public parks are meant for walking and recreation, not for filming dance videos. They also objected to the daughter’s sleeveless outfit, saying they did not want such behaviour to be promoted in Punjab.
The mother and daughter, who are reportedly from Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, had recently arrived in Punjab and were visiting the park with relatives. They were allegedly recording a social media reel when the Nihangs approached them.
After the objection was raised, the two stopped filming and apologised. They also deleted the video they had recorded. According to reports, members of the group checked the mobile phone to ensure the footage had been removed before allowing them to leave with a warning not to record similar videos in the park.
A video of the incident has since surfaced on social media. There was no immediate information about any police action or official complaint in connection with the incident.
