Northern Railway cancels over 250 trains ahead of CJP protest in Delhi

New Delhi: Northern Railway has cancelled more than 250 trains, including mail, express and local services, ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed protest in Delhi on Saturday, October 10.

The number of cancellations rose from an initial 38 to more than 250 after Northern Railway issued several updates late on Friday, adding local train services connecting Delhi with nearby cities.

An earlier notification issued by the Railway Board said trains departing from stations in other states after 2pm on October 9 and scheduled to arrive at New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4am and 2pm on October 10 would be cancelled amid traffic-related concerns.

Based on the initial notification, Northern Railway announced the cancellation of 38 mail and express trains.

However, the railway subsequently released additional lists covering local services operating between Delhi and neighbouring cities, including Ghaziabad, Panipat and Sonipat. These services were also included in the cancellations.

The disruption is expected to affect passengers travelling to and from the national capital during the protest-related security arrangements. Travellers have been advised to check the latest railway announcements and confirm their train status before leaving for the station.
