Chamoli: Rescue and relief operations continued on Saturday at the Tehri Hydro Development Corporation (THDC) tunnel at Mayapur (Pipalkoti) in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, where an accident occurred on August 13.
Officials said the body of one more missing worker has been recovered, while search operations are continuing for two other workers who remain missing inside the tunnel.
Water and debris entered under-construction tunnel
According to officials, the accident occurred around 7 pm on Thursday at the under-construction tunnel of the Mayapur (Pipalkoti) project after water and debris suddenly entered the structure.
A team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), led by Inspector Karan Singh, has been carrying out search and rescue operations inside the tunnel.
The SDRF is working in coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), district police, administration and other agencies. Teams are using technical resources and specialised equipment to search potential locations inside the tunnel.
The search operation for the two remaining missing workers is continuing.
