PM Modi likely to visit Canada for three days from December 13

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Canada for three days from December 13, in a move that could help improve bilateral relations and strengthen trade ties, according to reports.

The Canadian government is reportedly viewing the proposed visit primarily through the lens of bilateral trade. Sources also suggest that Modi may address gatherings of the Indian community in Surrey and Brampton.

Preparations for the visit are expected to include arrangements to welcome the Indian prime minister and enhanced security measures. However, some observers believe the proposed tour could be reconsidered following a change in government in British Columbia.

Businesses interested in expanding trade with India are reportedly placing considerable expectations on the visit, hoping it will create fresh opportunities for commercial cooperation.

Relations between the two countries have shown signs of improvement since Modi attended the G7 summit in Canada in June last year. Several business meetings have taken place since then.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also visited India for four days in February this year, holding meetings with representatives of major Indian businesses.
