Punjab CM’s OSD Rajbir Ghumman skips CBI summons

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Rajbir Singh Ghumman, did not appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Chandigarh on Wednesday despite being summoned in connection with a alleged corruption case registered in Delhi.

The CBI had directed Ghumman to appear before its investigation team at the agency’s Sector 30 office at 2.30pm. However, he did not turn up, with officials reportedly waiting for him beyond the scheduled time.

The summons relates to a case registered by the CBI in Delhi on October 5 over alleged corruption. Ghumman has been asked to cooperate with the agency’s investigation.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has approached the Supreme Court against the CBI probe by filing a Special Leave Petition (SLP). The matter is expected to be heard in the coming days.

According to sources, Ghumman’s decision not to appear before the CBI at this stage is linked to the upcoming Supreme Court hearing. The Punjab government is seeking relief from the apex court in the matter.
