SAD to launch second phase of ‘Punjab Bachao’ rallies from Ferozepur on August 16

Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will launch the second phase of its ‘Punjab Bachao’ campaign from Guru Har Sahai in Ferozepur district on August 16, as the party steps up its political outreach ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

The party has planned more than 20 rallies across Punjab during August and September. Besides the rallies, three major conferences have been scheduled at Isru, Longowal and Baba Bakala. The Isru conference will be held on August 15, a day before the Guru Har Sahai rally.

SAD’s youth wings—the Youth Akali Dal (YAD) and the Students Organisation of India (SOI)—will also organise protests over the alleged paper leak issue. A major demonstration is planned in Bathinda in the coming days.

Party leaders said the campaign aims to highlight the achievements of previous SAD-led governments, raise public issues and present the party’s roadmap for Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

The outreach programme comes as the Shiromani Akali Dal seeks to strengthen its organisation, reconnect with voters and revive its political base after suffering electoral setbacks in recent years.

The first phase of the ‘Punjab Bachao’ campaign concluded on April 11 with a rally at Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district. During the first phase, the party organised 40 rallies across Punjab.
