Kolkata: Former India cricket captain and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly has approached the police after allegedly receiving several threatening letters over the past few months.
According to a senior police officer, one of the letters allegedly contained death threats against Ganguly and his wife, Dona Ganguly.
The latest threatening letter was reportedly received at Ganguly’s office, following which he submitted a written complaint at the Thakurpukur police station in south Kolkata.
According to the complaint, letters addressed to the former BCCI president had been arriving over the past six months. They were initially not taken seriously, but two recent letters reportedly contained explicit threats to kill Ganguly and his wife and harm people close to them.
Police have initiated an inquiry into the matter and are examining the source of the letters.
