New Delhi: The CBI today filed a charge sheet against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 Pul Bangash case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
The case pertains to the burning down of a gurdwara in Pul Bangsh area and the killing of three persons on November 1, 1984, a day after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
“On November 1, 1984, Tytler instigated a mob at Gurdwara Azad Market at Pul Bangash, who burnt down the gurdwara and killed three Sikhs Thakur Singh, Badal Singh and Gurcharan Singh,” the CBI said in its charge sheet filed in a special court here.
The agency has charged Tytler under sections 147 (rioting), 109 (abetment) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the officials said. He said the court will consider the charges on June 2.
