21 retired judges of SC and HC write to CJI, express concern over attempts to weaken judiciary

New Delhi: A group of 21 retired judges of the Supreme Court and high courts have sent a letter to the Chief Justice of India against the growing attempts to weaken the judiciary through deliberate pressure, misinformation and public humiliation.

“These critics are motivated by petty political interests and personal gains and are trying to undermine the faith of the people in the judicial system,” they said.

The retired judges, however, did not specify the events they had written the letter about. These include four retired judges of the Supreme Court.
