Calcutta High Court judge announces to join BJP party hours after his resignation

Kolkata: Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, hours after resigning as a judge of the Calcutta High Court, today announced that he was joining the BJP and would contest from from where the saffron party would give him a Lok Sabha ticket.

Addressing a press conference, he said he would join the BJP on March 7.

“I am joining the BJP as it is a national party which is fighting against TMC’s corruption in Bengal,” he said.

He had sent his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu in the morning and sent copies of it to Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Calcutta High Court Chief Justice T S Sivagnam.
