Delhi becomes world’s most polluted city on Diwali

New Delhi: New Delhi was recorded among the most polluted cities in the world the day after Diwali. According to Swiss group IQ Air, Mumbai was ranked fifth and Kolkata sixth. There was some relief from air pollution due to rains in Delhi in the past, but on Sunday night, the level of air pollution increased once again due to firecrackers fired despite the ban on Diwali.
Meanwhile, the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 218 at 4 pm, but the pollution level rose sharply to 358 by 4 pm today due to fireworks fired from late Sunday night. Delhi’s RK Puram recorded an AQI of 402, Jahangirpuri 419, Bawana 407 and Mundka 403.
