‘News’ will be taken from those who publish news that ‘tarnishes’ the image of UP government

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has directed all district magistrates to seek an explanation from the organisers of a media group who publish “negative” news that may tarnish the image of the state or present false facts in their reports.
In an order dated August 16, Sanjay Prasad, principal secretary to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, said negative news will be recorded on the common grievance redressal system and forwarded to the divisional commissioners, district magistrates and officials concerned.
A notice will be sent by the District Magistrate to the manager of the concerned media group/newspapers to clarify the situation.
Prasad said the facts of the negative news need to be investigated immediately as these news tarnishes the image of the government.
