Police officer shot by militants in Srinagar

Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir police officer was shot at by militants in Srinagar city today, leaving him critically injured, police said. 
      He has been identified as Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani. He was playing cricket with local boys at the Eidgah ground when the militants opened fire on him, the officials said. He was admitted to the hospital in an injured condition.
       Doctors are treating him and his condition is said to be critical, officials said. “Militants shot and injured Inspector Masroor Ahmad near Eidgah in Srinagar,” the Kashmir Zone Police wrote on ‘X’. He has been admitted to the hospital immediately for treatment. Preliminary investigation has revealed that he was shot at with a pistol. A case has been registered and the area has been cordoned off to look for the militants.
